The Sagrada Família and the confused tourists
28/07/2025
Every week, some tourist asks me to take them to the Sagrada Família. And honestly, I know it by heart now. But what never fails to surprise me are the questions I get along the way.
One lady once asked me if Gaudí was still working on it. Another thought it had been finished last Christmas. Some think it’s an old cathedral, others a movie set. From the taxi, I become an improvised tour guide, explaining how it started over a century ago and still isn’t finished.
When we arrive, I see everything: people crying with emotion, others just after the Instagram shot. And me, watching from the rearview mirror, still get amazed by that unfinished masterpiece. Maybe that’s its magic — it never ends, and it never stops surprising.
