Tibidabo: a journey to the sky... with twists and turns included
When the taxi climbs to Barcelona’s highest amusement park
When a customer tells me, “Take me to Tibidabo,” I already know the ride will be one of those with views. The climb is a classic: twists, forest, viewpoints, and a breeze that smells like pine. And when you reach the top, the panorama is one of those that makes you forget the previous curve.
The amusement park is over a hundred years old and still holds that magic from when time moved more slowly. There are families who go every year, couples who go up to take photos with Barcelona at their feet, and even tourists who confuse the funicular with just another ride.
I always wait a bit while they go down to take photos. Sometimes they ask me to take one for them, and of course, there I am, with the taxi running and acting as an impromptu photographer. But I don’t mind. Tibidabo is one of those places where everyone smiles, and as a taxi driver, that’s very much appreciated.
